Bottle Project
Design a bottle to fit the time period and style of The Addams Family Musical for Grandma's cart of potions.
I created "wool of bat." Made from brushed out yarn. Printed a label from the internet and glued onto the bottle.
Sword Baldric and Dagger Sheath
Create a baldric from genuine leather. Emboss and dye the leather to match a style.
Gilded Picture Frame
Create a Gilded Picture Frame from a frame template based off a person important to you. Frame had to have a metallic paint and a 3D Element. I chose Tim Burton and implemented German Expressionism to match Burton's style. Smeared clay and carved cracks onto the frame. Used air dry clay to create a 3D carving of the skull. Sealed frame and skull in flex seal to blend clay into the frame. Stipple painted a metallic silver onto the frame.
Strawberry Handkerchief
Design a custom textile to be used for a handkerchief for Othello, needed to implement strawberries into the the textiles.
Pottery
Design and paint a plate based off Cypriot or Moroccan Pottery.
I used an ivory spray paint to first spray over the original design and paint of the original plate that was provided from the class. This acted as my primer for the layers of paint and design work to follow. I used a series of acrylic paints to acquire the tone and color I wanted. I free handed the line work on the pottery, being sure to add different line weights.
Placemat
Create a place mat based off Cypriot or Moroccan textiles.
For my textile I designed it by creating a pattern in Vectorworks 2018 using various line and spiral tools. I was able to add different colors and line weights while in the program. From there I uploaded it into spoonflower and found a pattern arrangement I liked.
Food Project
Recreate a traditional Cypriot or Moroccan dish.
I chose patates antinates. Crafted from air dry clay and used a series of painting and layering. Once the paint was dry I used several layers of varnish and gloss modge podge to get a glossy wet look for my food. During the curing process of the glue I used the shavings of a gummy eraser to give the imitation of garnishes.
Dye Project
dye an article of clothing.
I dyed a t-shirt, using a spiral motion and technique. I wanted to use colors that played in with my own aesthetic.
