A Christmas Carol
Denver Performing Arts Center Winter 2022
Costume Designer: Kevin Copenhaver
Draper: Ingrid Ludeke
My responsibility with this costume was to work closely with the draper to mark, cut, and assemble portions of the Mrs. Fezziwig dress.
This style of dress is known as a straight-to-bias; meaning the center front skirt panels are cut on the straight of grain, and the side front and back panels are cut on the bias.
This costume began with a muslin mock-up for fitting and patterning purposes. I cut the under and over dress skirt panels, and assembled them. The ruffles and pleated collar were cut and assembled by me. The sleeves and underdress bodice were constructed by the draper. The bows were made by another stitcher (Katarina Kosmopolous).
Once the mock-up was complete we were able to move on to real materials.
I cut and constructed the overdess ruffle, and the underdress ruffles. I constructed the overdress bodice and piping.
